Domestic Advertising Campaign -

100,000 copies of this were distributed with the Irish Independent on June 16th .
A month long ( June 19 – July 16) billboard advertising campaign took place in 11 DART stations around Dublin to raise awareness of our county.
The billboard was also featured in an article in the Sunday Independent and in will be in the forthcoming issue of Hospitality Ireland Magazine.
Increase in 2005 visitors to County Westmeath
Premlinary Statistics show an increase of visitors to County Westmeath from 111,000 visitors in 2004 to 117,000 in 2005.
Westmeath, along with Meath has the third highest number of visitors in the Midlands East region.
Westmeath has the third highest amount of revenue generated by overseas visitors to counties in the Midlands East region ( E40 million)

Westmeath Tourism shared the Failte Ireland stand at this year’s Belfast Ideal Homes exhibition
The event which took place from Wed 6th to Sunday 10th was well attended with many visitors showing an interest in short breaks. Copies of the Westmeath Holiday Guide and the Breakaway to Westmeath flyer containing special offers were distributed.

Westmeath Tourism Attend John McCormack Night in the National Concert Hall

In continuing its efforts to hightlight the county to the domestic market, Westmeath Tourism promoted the accommodation, attraction and activity facilities of County Westmeath to the audience of the John Mc Cormack – Icon of an Age evening held on Saturday 23 rd September in the National Concert Hall. The show was attended by over 1,000 fans of the late Count John McCormack who was born in Athlone in 1884.
Copies of the Westmeath Holiday Guide and the Breakaway to Westmeath flyer containing great value packages for short breaks in the county were distributed.
Songs associated with John McCormack were performed on the night by Ireland’s leading tenor, Anthony Kearns who in 1998 became one third of very popular trio The Irish Tenors. A forty two piece orchestra was conducted by Robert Houlihan. Footage from the documentary, “ John McCormack, The People’s Tenor” was screened. And exclusively, two rare performances of McCormack singing “ Kitty My Love Will You Marry Me” and “ Fairy Story By The Fire” were also screened on the night.
