Ireland's only inland Blue Flag Lake.

We are ideally situated for touring the Midlands, only 13 miles from Mullingar where you can visit Mullingar Pewter's craft factory and shop. The Westmeath Lakes near Mullingar and Lough Ree are one of the great attractions of the Midlands, famous for the quality of their fishing. Nature Lovers will find plenty of wildlife in and around the lakes and rivers of Westmeath.

The house is located in a very tranquil setting, ideal for family holidays and quiet breaks away from it all.

Discover the Seven Wonders of Fore, where waters flow uphill to the magnificent raised bog of Coolnagun. Visit Fore's impressive ruins of a monastic settlement and church, or Tullynally Castle and Gardens, close by Lough Derravaragh is forever associated with The Children of Lir. At Lough Crew, Oldcastle, You can visit the Passage Graves with their ornate stonework.

Nearby you can enjoy a round of golf on a choice of 9 or 18 hole golf course and Pitch-and Putt course. Lake boats for hire. Ideal for touring, walking or simply relaxing.

Traditionally restored house, overlooking Lough Lene consisting of 2 Double bedrooms, 1 single bedroom, bathroom and shower, oil fired central heating throughout, fully equipped kitchen, spacious sitting room with open fire and telephone. Private access to lake with boat available for hire. Bait fridge provided.

   
  Attractions of the Area.

It is the ideal base to tour and fish the lakes at this tranquil area of the Lakeland region of Ireland. The lakes are noted for the variety of their fish species which includes pike, bream, rudd, perch, roach, eel and tench.The area is renowned for its superb trout fishing.

The fisherman and tourist are especially catered for in the locality with regard to boat hire, fishing tackle, bait, Restaurants and pub grub. souvenirs etc. Horse riding is also available in the area. A wider choice of fine shopping facilities, entertainment and leisure activities are available in the nearest towns of Mullingar, Kells and Oldcastle. 

 
   ANGLING:

River Inny: Flowing from Lough Sheelin with moderate to fast flow, has a big stock of roach and hybrids.

Lough Derravaragh: Has a big stock of roach, pike hybrids and perch with some rudd and bream. At the narrow Crookedwood end the shore falls away so steeply that it allows for excellent bank fishing. This is a unique feature, rarely if ever found in large lakes.

Ballinafid Lake: Has specimen bream, rudd hybrids, perch and carp.

Lough Sheever: Holds bream, Rudd, perch and pike. Access is over private ground.

Lough Sheelin: Excellent trout fishery. Also some pike.

Lough Owel: Excellent brown trout fishery. International held there in 1990 and is on the International Rota.

Trout Fishing: Lough Sheelin, Lough Derravaragh, Mount Dalton Lake, Lough Bane, Lough Owel and Lough Ennell are all brown trout fisheries.

Bait and Boats: Bait Can be arranged locally with some available at all times.
There are boats for hire where needed an local fishing reports supplied.
